Well, This is another opportunity for the federal government to give more my tax dollars to the parasites that suck from the hard working taxpayers. I don't drive a $500. P.O.S. Car My clunker has Value. Blue book of $5500.00 But gets 13 MPG So this Cash for clunkers Is not geared to Do away with Gas guzzlers. Its a Program Geared to once again GIVE "Losers" Loser Term = Someone whom Based on there decisions in life have found them In a non-enriched Condition. A Hand out of $4500. Rewarding them for there poor planning and decisions. At the expense of the working class. Bail-out is a Sell out OF Americans. You want to help? Give everyone who paid Taxes Every Dollar that you took from us in the past 5 years. I'm sure I could Buy 2 New cars with that. Otherwise I will just wait for the Scumbag who gets there new car with this Auto Welfare Voucher has it REPOSSESSED. See you can't fix a problem with the same mind set that created the problem.

I have a 1981 Ford F-150 that I wanted to trade in. How come this ends at 25 years? If you truely want people to turn in their "clunkers," then you shouldn't limit the age- as long as they are in working condition and are still registered and on the road!

We have owned a 1998 Olds Intrigue for 11 years--recently put it in 16 year old son's name (wise move per insurance agent) but does this now disqualify us from the clunker law benefits because we will be the buyers of the new car (son has no $$) but he will have to turn in the deed/registration.

I traded a 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada for a new 2009 Honda Element around the end of May. Does the bill cover purchases made prior to the bill being signed?

Tom,

I've loved your column for years and think you were raised a lot like me. I have a 1998 Chevy Lumina with 110,000 miles in good shape. My husband wants me to trade it in but it's never let me down, I hate the thought of a car payment, and I hate being pushed around by the government. I've always been a GM/Chevy fan but refuse to buy another one because of the bailout.
